I’m not going to apologize, because by now most of you realize that this blog, albeit fun, is not high on the totem pole of my priorities, and suffers a bad case of neglect from time to time. However, this past bout was particularly bad (over a month… yikes!), so I took a few spare moments today to whip up a quickie sketch. Not only that, I filmed it and did a time lapse sort of deal, so you can check out the sketch, and also watch me sketch it. I thought it might add an interesting spin to a throwaway sketch (next time I’ll zoom in more). Enjoy!

vaguely familiar liek i heard it in passing a while back but cant place it…)

Like Injulen said, it’s ‘Machinehead’ off of the album ‘Sixteen Stone’ by Bush.

Um…nope, it’s actually Machinehead by Bush. Bush is the name of that band, and the song is called Machinehead.
Machine Head… by Bush… album is Sixteen Stone, one of my favorite songs. An i loved the video that is a really good idea.
As always, cool sketch, and the video is cool too - one question: Is that a pen or a pencil you’re using? I couldn’t quite tell.
It looks like a RemedyX™ 0.9 mechanical drawing pencil to me. I’m just guessing, because it looks just like the kind I use

I have to say dude, after watching that, I realized I move my paper around a lot when drawing my stuff.
It would take me much longer to draw something without twisting the paper to the right or left. I love the idea of the sketch video as well. I’m happy to see you’re taking full advantage of the You Tube.

I can’t draw straight line and near 0% artistic skills but i have still always wanted to be able to draw.
My sister was only 3 years old when she started to beat me with a pencil and i forsee that she could become a very good artist
if she would pursue it.
Also i was wondering, is that just some character you cooked up or is supposed to be someone your drawing?

You’ve got a very steady hand there, a nice working pace. I should get my drawing pace up, practice makes a good medicine for that.
Sketch looks good, kinda reminds me of a Skrull from Marvel lore.

Yeah, i thought i’d post my bit as well, even though its echoed by justabout everyone whose posted on this.
Its good to see ya back in the journal hotseat, and that video is real good to watch (and love the song too, its now a part of my music collection).
I’m agreein with zack in that u barely move ur paper at all, when i’m sketching in my pad i twist n turn the thing like crazy, and i can barely ever pull a sketch without rubbing something out and re-drawing it, lol. But yeah, lovin the artwork, for some reason everytime i take a look at the journal artwork, it gets me in the mood to sketch something, call it inspiring if you will. Keep the cad and everything up man, its definately good stuff.

you should film yourself drawing a comic that would be fucking awesome anyway keep up on the great work
he turned a 5 minute sketch into a minute vid.
If he films it at the same speed, (the comic estimating takes 4 hours) the video will be
48 minutes. And even with a very fast internet and computer, that takes a while to post on youtube (if i am correct).
Im not sure Tim is going to post a vid of him making a full comic just yet, he said he wasnt going to do a full one on CadPre, let alone public.

Nice music pick! Not quite what I was expecting as background for a sketch, but a good song. My volume was turned up loud and I got a good shock.
Awesome…just one beef (well, not even really a beef now that I think about it…just that beef seemed like a good descriptor at the time…) FEET, man! We want more feet! How am I to know what that guy has below the panel?…He could be some freak octopus for all I know! Not that I have anything against freak octopuses, if there are any reading, but I’d still like to SEE the freak octopus foots…er..feet? tenti? Anyway, great work, and woOt for updates!
