The Art of Tim

I am exhausted

Well, yesterday I took Britanny up to Providence for the day. I had been keeping the whole plan a surprise for about a month now. We ate lunch at Fire and Ice, then walked around Providence Place and caught a movie. Inbetween it all I dealt with the rocky book pre-sale via phone conferences. But I’m tired of talking about that, so I’m not going to get into it. Dinner at the Cheesecake Factory, some more hanging out, and then we went to Lupo’s to catch The Killers.

It was a pretty good show. We’d never heard of the opening band, Louis XIV, and they weren’t that great. And they played forever. Then there was a huge wait while they set up for the main show. It had been a long day and Britanny and I were tired. It was really hot in the pit and neither of us wanted to stand there all night, so we snuck up to the mezzanine and grabbed a couple of unoccupied seats and kicked back to watch the main show. I enjoyed everything The Killers played off of their album, but they slipped in a couple of new songs and I didn’t really like them. Might be because it was the first time hearing it.

Music is always like that for me. The first time I listen to an album, I usually don’t like it. Second or third time through I can make a sound judgement. Picked up the new Oasis album the other day. Really didn’t like it at first. Just seemed really slow. We listened to it again on the ride up to Providence and it grew on me a little.

Today was all about doing car work, since my baby goes in for body and paint tomorrow morning. Once I drop her off I’ll be confined to the apartment for 2 or 3 weeks while I don’t have a car. Tonight I went and picked up another air conditioner to put in the CAD office, and some more survival supplies like milk, butter, and pudding. I won’t have the luxury of driving to Quiznos or going grocery shopping.

So anyway, today was all about prepping the car for the overhaul. First order of business was to pull the doors and front fenders off of my parts car, because they are going to replace the damaged ones on my main car. For instance, the drivers side door has rusted through, and cannot be fixed. So we replace it. The other door and fenders only have a couple of little dings, but the ones from the parts car have none. If I use the flawless ones, that’s less stuff I have to pay the shop to fix.

Doors and fenders stipped off the parts car.

All of the pieces ready to bring to the shop tomorrow. They’ll do the actual swap onto my car, since it’s easier to do a color change (paint job) when parts are off the car.

I also gutted all of the interior panels from the parts car. They were in fantastic shape, and some of them will be replacing the ones my car came with.

You can see I was also using the parts car as trash and tool/parts storage.

Finally I took some pictures of my baby to serve as “before” shots. After I drop her off tomorrow, she’ll never look like this again.

Obviously I’ll post more pictures once she comes back from the shop, when she’ll have her body kit fitted, inverted carbon fiber hood, and will be painted shining silver metallic (one of the new RX-8 colors).

Music is that way for me too, new albums don’t really appeal, but they sound better the more I listen to them. I’m a big killers fan, I hope to see them when the come around the Richmond area. Hope everything works out with you car, I’m sure it’ll be sweet when it’s all done with. Milk, butter, and pudding? Gotta love the necessities. What kind of pudding? Straight chocolate, or do you go fancy with the mixes?

[T] H4xorzl337 Says:

Random thought, but when I game on-line and such, I use the name Pudding. I used it because of the Chef Brian Comic where he says Pudding is my middle name. Great car Tim. Keep up all the awesome work.

[T] Travis Says:

I think the Silver would look pretty sweet.
Rock on Duder.

[T] KevinInChains Says:

LOL Handsome Boy Modeling School….they are great. I heard their show at Toads Place was pure fun.

[T] Spazzass13 Says:

shiiiit keep those doors off and you could get on one of those shows like pimp my ride…. that be pretty damn cool

[T] Kristen Says:

Eesh. The pre-order stuff must be stressing you out, so sorry. But what can you do? Your comics are lovely. I shall be very pleased if I can make it home in time to order a hardback one. Anyways, congratulations on becoming such a hit, haha. I hope your car comes out extremely gorgeous. Props to your music choices by the way.

[T] Alex Says:

Hehe, he blurred out his license plate frame. A good idea, but still comical.

[T] Tanka Says:

Dayum. Nice car man. Maybe I missed it, but what colors is she going to come out with?

[T] purpleman Says:

metalic silver (is there any other silver?) like the new RX-8. and yes, you missed it. twice.

[T] Snap Says:

Have you done anything motor wise to the car? Tyhe MX-3, from my understanding, without to much fuss, will accept a 2.5 turbo motor, from a Ford Probe GT. With that, basic bolt on’s, and a little bit of spray, you’ve got a mid 13 second car no problem. Plus it’s just not something you see too often.

[T] Absath Says:

It’s called a KL-ZE. It’s a 2.5 V6, and we did the swap last fall =)

[T] L337Cowboy Says:

I saw the Killers in Kansas City, MO…loved the show too…opening band sucked as well. Excellent car by the way…

[T] iam_1337 Says:

opening bands always suck so they can make the main show sound really awesome….even if they suck…

Good luck with the car and even though i know about everybody else has said this….PUDDING!?!?

if it fish or chocolate? lol (strip with ted and ethan at Scott’s door)

[T] skenmy Says:

It’s gonna be silver :D

[T] Shadow Reaper Says:

Providence is right down the street from me :P

While you were in Providence, I was passed out on the couch from heat exhaustion. Been very warm the past few days.

Glad to see everything’s sorted out and that you had fun in my little home state.

[T] CJ Says:

Sounds like a great time. A question about your car though, what is the output of the engine? That has been plauging me ever since I first saw you were modifying it. I’m very interersted to see how it turns out.

[T] el_jefe Says:

The KLZE is good for around 200 - 220 hp at the crank. A fair improvement from the 160 or so from the stock V6.

[T] Lori Says:

I didn’t even know you had a parts car! I’m good at being blind (or blonde). Twas nice to see you at the picnic!
and Frilly Frocks! Hehehehehe

[T] Brian W Says:

That’s nuts about Louis XIV, because I’ve been really into them for a while, and then I got the chance to see them open for Hot Hot Heat in March, and I was really surprised by how bad of a time I had seeing them. They seemed really into themselves, and diva-ish. If you still have any hope for them, you should at least check out “Finding Out True Love Is Blind” (Its their single) or “Letter to Dominique”. They’re probably my favorites. Also there’s a song actually called “Louis XIV” that is pretty good.

[T] Christine Says:

LOL this is kinda random but i was front row at that concert. i felt like such a fangirl. maybe you saw me hahaha :P

[T] yunti Says:

[T] yunti Says:

No offence was intended lol, just goes to show the result of missing two nights of sleep from too much coffee. Pease keep up the great work :)

[T] Jeremy Says:

Tim,
When you get your LCD monitor, let us know how you like it. I’d be concerned about always having to run at a specific resolution and I’m curious to know what your experience is.

:)
Thanks.

[T] Sleye Says:

Yeah, I guess I came off abit strong there but yeah, little sleep will do that to you

[T] SilverLink Says:

Nice Percidia man. heh a buddy of mine has one that we work on from time to time… Custom fab’s CAI, Evo5 Body Kit, Pioneer Speakers all around and Sony Explode Sub (all he could afford :P lol) in a custom fiberglass sub box. (we took out the backseat for it. heh.
Euro’s, etc. you know, riced out, lol. All fun to do though. keep it up man.

[T] Pampanito Says:

I’ve just restored a 92 Firebird myself. Mostly undercarriage and engine work as I can’t do much else with the cosmetics. Oh well. That’s the great thing about import cars though: there’s always something you can play with. Looking forward to seeing it when it’s done.

[T] Letchinus Says:

I use this post as a base for anyone who read the article on the site, death to 8-bit theatre, and the evil nuklearpower.com!

[T] Gordon Says:

This has zero relation to most of your stuff, but…

Rock And Roll part 2 is an awesome song… although I was always told it was by Linkin Park featuring HBMS :o
I certainly know the music is Shinoda-esque, and LP have 2 parts in it.
