Oh girl, you have no faith in medicine

Working right now to get comics drawn in advance in preparation for the move next week. Aside from being busy moving stuff, you know there’s always a chance the cable company will screw you over getting your service set up. So better to be prepared and let the comic auto-update, so I can focus on arranging my new habitat to my liking.

Did two comics today, then, since Britanny is busy planning a family party for this weekend, I decided to spend my evening with some games and a movie. Played some Tiger Woods 08, and a bit of Chromehounds which I picked again up because Brian “Atomic Robo” Clevinger has been playing. Then I settled in to watch Vacancy, that scary movie with Luke Wilson. Britanny refused to watch it with me. She used to like horror movies, then we saw Hostel. Blech. Movie was ok, ended a little… I dunno.

However somewhere during that two hours I grabbed a pad and sketched some sketchy. Fun.

Weird stuff

Exactly one week left now until I start moving.

I was going through one of my closets and found this:

It’s funny the stuff game companies send out to promote their games. It’s not always just a review copy of the game. Sometimes it’s over-the-top and useless (albeit kinda cool) junk like this. This die cast Le Mans came from Atari a couple of years ago, and it’s not little either. The box it’s in is about the size of a shoebox. Most of the time I give this stuff away to friends or whatever. Like the Viva Pinata review kit, which came in a little wooden crate with all the press materials and an actual pinata.

Makes you wonder if they think it will get them a better review, or if they just do it because its fun and nifty.

Projekt Wilderness Survival Revolution Weekend

Britanny and I had a fairly eventful weekend. On Saturday afternoon we drove up to Devil’s Hopyard state park for some camping. We met up with our friends Briana and Dan, and their friends Tom and Krista. I think I was expecting a more… woodsy campsite, but it was still a nice location. We put up the tent then proceeded to get a fire going. Dan made some pasta, while I cooked some hot dogs over the fire. We hung out, played a board game, had marshmallows. It was pretty fun.

The sleeping, not so much fun. We thought that a couple of thick feather comforters spread out on the bottom of the tent would be cushion enough, but we were sorely mistaken. I spent most of the night tossing and turning, and I woke up with a bit of a stiff back. Next time I go camping I’m going to have to remedy that situation.

We got up early and made breakfast, and then came home to relax for the afternoon. My tempur-pedic mattress was a welcomed sight, let me tell you.

Later in the day we got ready and headed up to Hartford for the Projekt Revolution tour. Along the way we used my GPS to randomly select a place to eat. It was a Japanese restaurant and when we got there we almost turned around to find someplace else, because the place looked like a dive. But we decided to check it out anyway, and inside the restaurant was gorgeous. Food turned out to be really good as well.

The concert had been going on for hours by the time we got there. There were a bunch of bands playing, and had we not gone camping the night before I might have cared to get there early enough to see some of them (Styles of Beyond, HIM). We did get there in time to see MCR.. Gerard was the most effeminate as I’ve seen him, and I’ve seen MCR live twice before. But it was a good show, and then we hung out until Linkin Park came on.

We had tickets for the pit, so we got pretty close to the stage. Linkin Park played for about two hours, and a good mix of songs from all their albums. All in all, not a bad evening.

Only one more week before I start moving to the new house. I’ll take some pictures after I get moved in.

Some weekend pics after the… break thingy.

So I got the house

The first week and a half of August were spent driving all over town and surrounding towns viewing houses, condos and apartments. I’ve been living in this house since I moved to Connecticut three years ago, and with my lease ending in September I really didn’t want to spend another winter here. The primary problem is that it’s an older building, with older windows, and I waste a lot of money keeping this place heated in the winter.

So at the beginning of August I started looking around to see what else was out there. I must have looked at a couple of dozen places, but then I found this absolutely gorgeous house right on the river. I applied, got the house, and so now for the past couple of weeks I’ve been slowly boxing up my whole life. I’ve been digging through all the junk that just accumulates over the years, and so far I’ve thrown out 16 trash bags worth of “ehh…maybe I’ll need this someday” stuff. Because let’s face it, you never need that shit. And if by some ridiculous chance you do, just go buy a new one. The less I have to pack and move, the better.

In that vein, I’ve come across a giant box of vintage CAD shirt stock I’m not sure what to do with. Shirts from like the early, early days, that haven’t been in print for years. I’ve considered putting them on eBay… but then I have to deal with shipping them, and ironically I think I’ve already packed any shipping materials I had lying around. It’s pointless to bring them to a convention, because they’re such random designs and sizes.

Just a couple of more weeks.

Words, Hands, Hearts

Britanny and I try to take the dogs to the local dog park once a week or so. It’s really nice and quiet, and the puppies enjoy running around off the leash and socializing with other dogs.
