And the sun will set for you

Thank you to everyone who offered website construction after my last post. I’m not quite there yet, I plan to do a large handful of these comics before putting them online. But I’ll announce it here if/when I’m looking for help there. Because it’s a side project, I have to fit it inbetween CAD and other things, so it takes a while to get pages completed. Even though I’m using Gmod and source, that can only take you so far. There are a lot of limitations that I need to bypass with Photoshop to tell the story in the way I need to tell it, and it takes some time.

But for those of you that are interested in the project, I can occasionally post some WIP (work in progress) images. Not too many though. Don’t want to spoil stuff.

Here is a screenshot that shows three uncropped panels from the first few pages in progress. Stuff goes boom.

Woof

The panel I posted below does not take place during World War 2. I needed a shot showing human army soldiers facing off against the robots in what was clearly a wartime era, and I wanted it to have a classical “war” feeling to it. As HL2 nor CS:S includes any US Soldiers models, and I couldn’t find any decent looking user created Army models, I used a screenshot from Day of Defeat (original screen here). I didn’t want to use modern army because the shape of modern army helmets are too similar to the shape of the helmets on the robots, so I used a screenshot with WW2 models and edited them. As some of you so cleverly pointed out, they are armed with modern weapons. As you can see from the original screenshot, I took extra steps to edit these in, and alter the coloration of the uniforms, so it was not just a mistake on my part. It was intentional, because, as I said, the time period where this panel takes place within the story is modern day, not WW2, though I wanted the shot to have a taste of the “epicness” of WW2.

Hopefully that clears up the debate. I’ve finished the 7-page prologue story, and now I’ll be starting on the actual storyline the comic will follow. No ETA on when these will go online. I’m creating these to entertain myself, so I’m in no rush. Eventually I’ll put them online, whenever I get around to finding someone to help me make a nice website for them.
