Versus

So Brian Clevinger shows me this really cool picture of Wolverine versus Darth Maul, that is completely orgasmic and entirely absurd all at the same time. So, amused as I became with the idea of impossible face-offs, I decided to do one of my own. The first thing that sprung to mind while trying to think of a ridiculous match-up was Legolas versus Robocop. Aside from the fact that Brian pointed out that “Legolas, bad ass as he may be, would never get that close to RoboCop alive”, I like how this rough sketch turned out. Maybe if I get some time, and people want me to, I’ll ink and color this. Do not flood me with comments asking me to do whatever insane face-off you would like to see. I am not taking requests.

It’s almost over

The busy season is drawing to a close, I promise. I hate not having time to post in this journal, and to do sketches, but certain things have to get done, and there are deadlines. But, optimistically, starting in June I can slow down a bit.

I’ve got tomorrow to spend with Britanny, and then I’m off to Los Angeles for E3. It’s really hard being away from her, even when she’s in-town. It’s extra hard when I go away on trips like this. I wish I could take her with me, but she has finals for school. I miss her an awful lot when I’m away. She’s such an important and wonderful part of my life, it’s difficult to have so much distance between us.

I’m not looking forward to the plane ride out to LA (I hate traveling) but once I get there I’m sure it will be a blast. I’ve got my PSP to keep me occupied during the flight, and hopefully catching up on some sleep too. I’m meeting up with Brian once I’m out there, to hang out and hit up the expo. He’s got a spiffy new laptop, so hopefully I can bludgeon him unconscious and use it to post updates and pictures from E3.

There are so many games I’m looking forward to seeing, and a lot of people I’m excited about meeting. I’m finally going to get to meet the great people from NCSoft who I’ve been working with on the CoH comic strips for the last year. I’m sure the whole thing will be quite the experience.

My car is coming along nicely. I finally have all of the parts for the external makeover, and she’ll be going into the shop in early June. I’ll be without my car for about two weeks, while the bodywork and paint is done. Recently I had headers and a PaceSetter Monza exhaust installed, and she sounds pretty mean. I snuck a little time in to work on the car on Saturday, to start installing the CAI (cold air intake). I was actually working on my extra car (I bought a second MX-3 for parts and experiments). Once the CAI is finished, I’ll install it on my performance car. I’ll get lots of pictures soon, of the engine bay and of course a before, during and after of the body work.

Britanny and I saw Unleashed (Jet Li, Morgan Freeman) on Saturday night, and we both really liked it. I’ve been a huge fan of Jet Li since I first saw Fist of Legend back in 1997. I thought Unleashed was great. Definitely check it out if you want to see Jet Li beat the shit out of people.

My sister graduated from college last weekend, so I went home to Cape Cod for that and for Mother’s Day. My sister received a BA from the Berklee College of Music, and I’m really proud of her. It was also nice to see all of my family, even if only for a short time. Hopefully I can make it back up there again soon, and Britanny can come with me.

Anyway, fingers crossed, this near-hiatus on the journal is almost over, and I can get back to regular postings soon enough. Right now I have to get back to work, and doing laundry, and packing for E3.

Read it and weep, suckas ;)

An update?!! *head explodes*

Here’s a quick sketch I did this afternoon. With Episode 3 being released later this month (while I’m at E3, as a matter of fact), I wanted to do an update to that old CAD Jedi wallpaper I had done in 2002. Originally I had planned to do an Ethan/Lucas version, like I had done with the Spider-man wallpaper. Part of me wants to do a truer version than that. Today I was just toying around with ideas.

It’s been a month since I posted a sketch. Erm… oops? Sorry, just been busy.

So, lots going on… Anime Boston was this past weekend. It was pretty fun. I’m going to do a full blown convention report at some point, so I’m not going to go too in-depth. I will say that having my girlfriend with me made the convention much more enjoyable. She helped me out at my table when I had a huge line formed, and generally kept me sane throughout the weekend. <3

Saturday night we left Boston and drove over to Umass in Amherst for a Green Day concert. When we got there, we found out that My Chemical Romance was opening, which was news to me, but welcome news since I’m a fan of MCR. Not sure what to say about the show. It was really incredible. Both bands played great sets. I could complain about the really fat, sweaty guys with their shirts off greasing their way through the crowd, or the losers who decided to smoke cigarrettes in the middle of the packed floor, but it’s all really pretty minor. Britanny and I did almost get caught up in the mosh pit a few times, but I made sure to put myself between her and any flying body parts/crowd surfers. We picked up a few over-priced concert shirts to remember the night, which really isn’t necessary because it was such a great experience, and one we’ll remember for a long time.

My sister is graduating from college this weekend, so I get to drive back up to Boston again for that, and then to Cape Cod to hang out this weekend. She already knows, so I suppose it doesn’t matter if I say it here, but I really don’t want to go. I’ve just got so much work to do, and I did so much driving last weekend, I’m really not looking forward to more time on the highway this weekend. Ah well…

E3 is coming up. Aside from the nasty plane ride to and from, I’m sure that will be a fun experience. I’ll be hanging out with Brian Clevinger and probably Scott Ramsoomair a bit too. There are quite a few games I’m really looking forward to getting a closer look at.

Been having a lot of parts for my car showing up lately. We’re not too far away from the total makeover. It’s just a pain because you have to wait until all the new parts are in before you can start anything, and things like this take time to arrive. Soon though, soon. On top of external styling, I’ve also got new headers, a new pacesetter exhaust and high flow cat waiting to go in. As well as an intake manifold, and valve cover that need to be “cold tanked”, blasted and powder coated. And if my cold-air intake would hurry up and arrive…

There’s just too much going on to cover it all. I’d rather be playing Jade Empire or Guild Wars than talking about it for instance. Unfortunately work comes first, and there’s a big stinking pile of that waiting to be done.

I’ll try and be better about the updates.
