She’s my private angel

I said I would post some pictures of my new rims. I like them on the red, but I’m really looking forward to how they’ll look after my car is painted silver. They’re 17’s… up a couple of sizes from the stock 15’s, but not that much heavier.

As I mentioned, I also got a new stereo. It’s a Panasonic C9901. It plays CDs, MP3s, XM Radio and has a full color display. I also had an amp installed and a full car alarm system with keyless entry.

I’ll post more pictures once we start the bodywork. Or at least once we’re finished.

Going to drive up and have Easter brunch with my girlfriend’s family tomorrow. After that it’s all about work and getting ready for the big party next weekend.

A little energon, and a lot of luck

Right… I have a journal…

So I doubt I’m going to be able to remember everything that happened in the past week+. I’ll start with this weekend and work my way backwards.

I had a really great weekend. Britanny (<3) and I went up to Boston to meet up with my parents for dinner. We went to The Cheesecake Factory, which is easily one of my favorite restaurants of all time. My sister came over to meet us when she got out of work, just as we were finishing up dinner, and we all went to see Blue Man Group together. I thought it was an incredible show, and I highly recommend it if you haven’t seen it.

Britanny and I were really enjoying our mini-vacation and so we decided to stay an extra day. I got home today around 1pm.

Let’s see… earlier last week Brian Carroll and Mike Smith came down for a day and we watched some Arrested Development (that show is hilarious) and played some Halo 2. That week I also watched Lost in Translation with Britanny (I didn’t like it too much) and I watched Ladder 49, which I thought was amazing. Flight of the Pheonix was pretty good too.

Oh, and for Saint Patrick’s day, Britanny and I went out to eat at an Irish pub in downtown New Haven.

My big birthday celebration (and my birthday) is only two weeks away, so I really need to start scheduling some time to clean up the apartment. We’re going to need as much floor space as possible. I’m picking Brian Clevinger up at the airport that friday afternoon, and I believe Pierre (who handles certain aspects of my business) and Scott Ramsoomair will be coming down from Canada sometime on friday as well. Brian Carroll and Mike Smith will definitely be by early. I may drag them with me to buy tickets to Sin City for everyone that night, just in case it sells out.

I got new rims and a new cd deck for my car. And the hood pins finally came so I can get my carbon fiber hood installed. I’ll try and remember to take pictures soon.

Sketches of horses, because I need practice there, and then a sketch of a dragon at the request of my girlfriend. And because as far as structure, horses and dragons are very similar.

Let’s see… trying to recap the week…

Well, earlier in the week I went over to visit Britanny in her dorm room, and we cuddled and watched Labrynth. I was under the impression I had seen all of this movie when I was younger, but about halfway through, I completely stopped recognizing things. So either I had never seen it all before, or I had totally forgotten the second half of the movie. I think that was Tuesday…

Wednesday I watched King Arthur, and was really surprised. I was expecting an absolutely awful movie, but I was really entertained. Clive Owen is a great actor, and he’s playing Dwight in Sin City. And the guy who played Lancelot, Ioan Gruffudd, is playing Mr. Fantastic in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie. The movie had a few problems, but overall I really enjoyed it.

On Thursday I was talking to Brian Carroll, and he mentioned that he was starting up a new character for himself in World of Warcraft. I had been having the itch to get back into the game, and that was all of the encouragement I needed. So I reinstalled the game and made a new character on Brian’s server. An Undead Warrior named Exanimus. We started playing and got to about L7-8 when the server went down for emergency maintenance. It was down all night.

Friday night I drove up to Hartford to meet up with Brian, Mike and a couple of their friends to grab some food and see Robots. I made a big detour so that I could go surprise Britanny at work, and then I headed to West Hartford. Ran into some trouble along the way that we won’t get into, and I met up with Brian and Mike for a quick bite at Friendly’s.

The movie was pretty good. It had some really funny, clever moments, and it had some really awful, pop-culture references. Overall I really enjoyed it, despite the few flaws. Afterwards we went to hang out at a diner for a bit, and then called it a night.

Saturday I took the day off and pretty much played World of Warcraft all day. I’m definitely enjoying the game again, but I’m approaching it from a more casual, relaxed manner, so that I don’t get burned out on it.

Today is all about work. Gotta get tomorrow’s comic finished, as well as get some other things taken care of. Fingers crossed I may get to spend some time with my girlfriend tonight, but I’m not sure. She’s got a busy week ahead of her with a lot of homework and studying for tests to do. I’ve got some work of my own that needs attention too. We’ll see how it works out.

Brian and Mike are both home from school this week, so they’re going to come over maybe Monday or Tuesday and watch King Arthur with me. They’re interested in seeing it now, and I really want to see it again, to make sure I wasn’t off my rocker in thinking that it was a good movie. We’ll probably also get some Halo 2 going… you know how that goes.

And a whole crowd of people dressed in civil war uniforms just marched down the sidewalk out my office window. What the fuck?

Broken on the surface

So I picked up the first season of Miami Vice on DVD. This is one of my guilty pleasures, buying television series on DVD and then gorging by the season. And now I am in possession of 22 episodes of Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas goodness. The 80’s soundtrack, the clothes, the cheesy lines, all of it is mine. And it fucking rocks.

I started planning my birthday celebration today, sending out invites and whatnot. This thing is going to turn into a who’s who of webcomics, which was exactly the plan. A webcomics convention without the annoyingness of convention stuff. No panels, no con preparation, just three days of gaming, movies and more with my friends and peers. This is my birthday present to myself. And as Brian Carroll pointed out to me, it starts on April 1st, which is when Sin City comes out, so we’ll probably all pile into cars and ambush a movie theater. And from then on out it’s anybody’s guess as we fire up four networked Xboxes and four big-screen televisions for a weekend of craziness, ending on Sunday when I turn 24. Should be a fun way to start off the month.

Tripping over myself

I’m getting absolutely slammed with support concerning this interview I did for CBS news. It’s a little bit weird, since I did the interview over a month ago, and was then informed it would never see the light of day. So I just sort of forgot about it, and then I wake up this morning and Tycho is talking about it, Slashdot is talking about it, I’ve got all of this response in my inbox… I think if I had known it was going to be such a big deal, I would have attempted to structure my answers a bit better.

I’m starting to feel like myself again, which is a good thing. When I got back from Florida I was on the backend of being sick, and when you’re physically ill it can definitely affect your mental state. I wasn’t motivated, I felt sluggish and crappy. I’ve gotten back into my gym routine, which is giving me an energy boost. With it I’m feeling my creative energies coming back. And of course, I can’t ignore the motivational benefits of spending time with someone you love (<3 thanks sweetheart).

Wednesday, today and probably tomorrow I’ve been letting work take a backseat to other things such as enjoying my life. I still don’t have it in me to take a day completely off, to say “forget it, I’m not putting a comic up today”, but I can at least allow myself to put the comic up later for the sake of my relaxation and well-being.

That being said, I’m off for the evening.
