Buh?

I don’t know what the hell this shit is. I think it started out as being a remake of the ‘Legends of Rymn’ teaser page I had done, just for kicks. I think. Then I sort of didn’t want to do it anymore, and it turned into crap. I’ve been looking at it for the past few days wondering what to do with it, and I decided to just post it so I can move onto the next page in my sketchbook.

Recapped

Well, my Valentine’s Day(s) were absolutely perfect. Due to work and school schedules, my girlfriend and I had decided to celebrate on Sunday, since we would be able to spend the whole day together.

I picked her up early Sunday morning and we drove back down to the New Haven train station, where we got on a train for New York city. It was a really nice day out, it wasn’t terribly cold and the sun was out, so that was a definite plus.

A short hour and a half ride later we were at Penn station, and we walked a few blocks up into Times Square. We went to some stores, goofed around in Toys R’ Us for a little bit, and then I took her out for lunch at Planet Hollywood. They had a lot of cool props there, like Ferris Bueller’s vest, the miniature cabin used in Evil Dead 2, and I’m pretty sure they had the model used for the second Death Star (the unfinished one). Otherwise it was a really cool replica. We both really like movies, so it was a very cool lunch. The food was great and the company was even better <3.

After lunch we walked down to 42nd street, stopping in some more stores along the way, and I took her to Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum. We must have spent at least a couple of hours there, hanging out, taking pictures and whatnot. It was a really fun time.

Here’s me with James Dean:

And sitting with Steven Spielberg:

In the gift shop:

We also got pictures of George Clooney proposing to my girlfriend, me punching George Bush, and me grabbing Jennifer Lopez’s ass. And we also took a picture of Britanny with Brad Pitt, who looked more like Fabio. Some of the wax likenesses were incredible, and others seemed way off. Harrison Ford looked nothing like himself. We had a lot of fun being silly, and checking out all of the displays.

After we had gone through the whole wax museum, we walked over to 5th avenue and we went to Rockefeller Center. Then I took her to FAO Schwarz for a little bit.

Britanny and I at Rockefeller <3:

I wanted to take a cab back to the train station, but it was around 5pm and you can never find a cab when you need one. It had been a long day, and we were both exhausted, so we spent the whole train ride home trying to relax, and then when we got back to my apartment, we curled up and took a nap. All in all the day was very much fun, and gave us a lot of great memories.

On Valentine’s day itself, Britanny had classes all day, and I had to try and get some work done. We did meet up that night to do gift exhanges for Valentine’s Day and she gave me the sweetest gift anyone has ever given me. We grabbed some food and watched a movie together. Over the two days, it was easily the best Valentine’s Day I’ve ever spent with anyone. And there’s no one on earth I’d rather be with than her.

Yesterday I had a lot of plans for work, which were quickly circumvented by a malfunctioning computer which required my attention. So the day was not quite as productive as I would have liked. Today everything is under control again, and I’m hoping to get back on track. I’ve got a lot to do to prepare for my trip down to Orlando next week for MegaCon.

Happy Valentine’s Day, Sweetheart

You are my first thought when I wake up in the morning, and you are my last thought before I fall asleep at night. You’ve given me more than I have words to thank you for. You are beautiful, and intelligent and you have such a wonderful sense of humor. There is nothing more I ever could have asked for in someone that I wanted to share my heart with.

You are the sole recipient of all of my love and affection, and you are the most beautiful part of my world.

I hope you have a very happy Valentine’s Day, hun. You’ve made mine perfect.

So let’s see… what things have I left out about my life recently…

Last Friday Ben came over, and we watched Prophet Boone again. He is so fucking awesome. He’s absolutely hilarious and he has no idea. “Get outta here, devil!”

The other night I watched The Grudge with my girlfriend and my friend/roommate Briana. I can’t say I was exactly scared… I don’t scare very easily though. The movie had some really creepy moments, without a doubt, but at no point was I actually scared. It was very reminiscent of The Ring. Briana seems to really enjoy that asian sort of horror, so I loaned her Crimson Butterfly 2 for the Playstation 2. Now that game scared me.

So much for keeping the Valentine’s Day plans a secret. Last night, after some pestering (<3) I broke down and told her what we were doing on Sunday. I’m no good at keeping surprises a secret, and she’s no good at knowing there’s a surprise coming and not trying to find out what it is ;) The surprise element is mostly gone, but I think it’s still going to be a really nice day. I’ll post about it next week, probably.

I set some time aside to relax today, and watched Ray. I thought it was really good, though a bit drawn out. Towards the end of the movie I was like “It’s still only 1960? He lived for another forty years. They’d better hurry up!”. Thank god I didn’t watch the extended version, with 25 minutes of extra footage. Jamie Foxx gave an outstanding performance as Ray Charles. Good movie overall.

I’ve mentioned this before, but people still ask me about it, so I suppose it’s one of those things I’m going to have to reiterate every once in a while. Protected posts are not for you. Registering an account here will not give you access to them. Just so you know.

Keep on keepin’ on, people.

Evenings of doooom

Was going to make this a combined scene with the angel sketch below. Not going to do it anymore, but I figured I’d do the sketch anyway. Not terribly happy with it… posture seems a little bit too stiff. Just a sketch though, so I didn’t bother correcting it. That’s what sketches are for. To see your mistakes and learn from them. Practice, practice, practice.

Not much new right now. I’ve been sleeping a lot lately, because I’ve been pretty tired. Yesterday I was absolutely exhausted. My girlfriend was diagnosed with Mono last month, which means I have it too. It’s hard to tell if my tiredness is a result of the mono, or just general weariness over the last week. At any rate, I’ve been trying to take it easy, limiting myself to work, the gym, and spending time with her.

Valentine’s day is coming up on Monday, but because of our busy schedules (my work, her classes) we’re going to be celebrating it on Sunday. Sunday just can’t seem to come fast enough, because I’ve been planning the day for a couple of weeks now, and it’s really difficult for me to keep surprises a secret. I’m not very patient ;P

My cousin just had her second child a couple of days ago, a daughter named Julia Kathleen. So that was some good news in the family.

I also found out my sister will be graduating from college this May. Graduating from college? How did that happen? When did she get old enough to be done with college? Time moves too quickly sometimes. It blows my mind.

I really should clean up the Ctrl+Alt+Del office… this place is getting sort of messy. I’ve got paperwork all about, mail, artwork from the comics left and right, etc etc. Gonna have to do my taxes soon… doing taxes for a business are always a blast. This is the last year I’m going to do them myself though. I’ve been putting off getting an accountant for far too long, and I’m determined to have one by spring.

Why?

We got Matt a new car yesterday. I gave up my Saturday to drive down to New Jersey with him so that he could look at used cars. I hate that fucking state so much. We found one though, and it was in pretty good shape, and the price was right, so I loaned Matt the money to buy it.

Picked up KOTOR2. A little bit turned off by the graphics… they built the game on the engine for the first one, and didn’t do much to improve the appearance, so the graphics are a little outdated. The gameplay is still solid, but it almost feels overwhelming, because they’ve added so much junk to do, like crafting and whatnot. I just don’t have the patience to sit down and read and compare all of the various components I get, so my inventory just keeps filling up with this crap.

Catching up

Starting off a new sketch book with this one. People always seem to like it when I draw male angels.

It’s been quite a while since I last posted here, so I’ll go ahead and do a quick recap.

Last Wednesday I went with my girlfriend to the club ‘Gotham’ for the “Gothic Prom”. Not exactly my scene, but I still had lots of fun. The community there seems to consist of very friendly, very nice people, so the vibe was pretty good. I couldn’t really get into the music they were playing, but I let her drag me out on to the dance floor a couple of times. I enjoy spending time with her no matter what we’re doing, so just being around her made the night great. I talked with a bunch of people, and even got recognized by a fan while I was at the bar ordering a drink. After the club we went out for some middle-eastern food, which was pretty good, and then we called it a night.

Thursday was fairly uneventful, as I recall. We had finally gotten the glass for the table Matt and I were building, so I spent most of the day getting the table ready to be finished. I wanted to get it done before our WEMas party on Saturday. Matt was late getting home with work, and both Briana and I were getting irritated, until he finally called me to let me know that his car had died on the way home (he commutes to and from New York for work). He was taking a train back to New Haven, so I told him I’d pick him up at the station at midnight. With no work going to be done on the table, and a little over an hour to kill before I had to get Matt, I sat down to play Resident Evil. I got pretty wrapped up in it, and finally beat it, only to look at the clock just as I finished the game and see that it was midnight. So I rushed off to get Matt.

Resident Evil was the most fulfilling game I’ve played in a long time. It was long though, which you wouldn’t think would be a problem when you’re talking about one of the greatest games you’ve played.

Friday I did some work. I picked up my girlfriend from school and drove her home so she could go to work. Matt and I finished putting the table together, and started staining it. That evening I skipped going to the gym and went and picked up my friend Ben, and we hung out for a bit. I showed him RE4, and then we ordered a couple of pizzas and channel surfed. I stopped on one of Connecticut’s public access stations, and we became entranced by ‘Prophet Boone’. I’d love to go into detail about this for you, but no amount of description would do this guy justice. Needless to say I think that this Friday at 8pm we’ll be tuning in to see if he’s on again. “Ben, don’t you be sassin’. You gonna’ DIE! God’s gonna knock yo’ block off!”

Saturday I woke up early to try and finish the table. We had stained it the night before, but we still had to put a few coats of finish on it. So Matt and I did that, and inbetween, with Briana’s help, we cleaned our apartment up for the party. Brian and Yuko were the first to show up, since I told them to come early. We hung out and chatted, and they witnessed the completion of our new kitchen table.

Other people started showing up gradually, and Matt got a group of us to sit down and play Puerto Rico, which took probably an hour or two. Aaron showed up shortly after we started, so he sat with us and played backseat gamer. I won. People were starting to get hungry, so I ordered a bunch of pizzas. Ben messaged me to let me know he was ready to come over, so I went out to pick him up at school, and he and I went to the grocery store to grab drinks for everyone. We got back just in time (the pizza guy was just reaching the front steps), and when we got inside everyone was gathered around playing Cranium. That game was cut short when we emerged with pizza, and we spent a little while hanging out in the kitchen talking, making fun of eachother, and having a good time.

My girlfriend showed up (<3) just as we were getting ready to watch Shaun of the Dead, which most of us had not seen. She had been working late, and she had to get up early for work the next morning, so she couldn’t stay very long, but we cuddled on the couch and watched Shaun of the Dead with everyone. It was honestly one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. Britanny had to leave before the movie was over, because she had to get up early, so I walked her out.

We finished watching the movie, and then a bunch of us played Burnout 3 Crash party for a bit. I think I came in last place the first time, and came in first the second time.

It was getting late (probably around 1-2am) and so people started heading out. I drove Ben back to school, and headed home. Brian, Yuko and Aaron had decided to stay over, instead of making the drive home, so we relaxed on the couch and watched some TV. First we found ‘Extreme Dodgeball’, and actual sport being televised on the Gameshow Network. Afterwards we watched some silly gameshows from the 50’s which provided us with joke material for the next couple of days.

I finally went to bed around 4am.

After I woke up on Sunday, Brian, Yuko, Aaron and I walked up the street to the diner to get some breakfast. We relaxed, ate, had a good time. They all had long drives ahead of them, so they headed off and I spent the rest of the day relaxing, and working. That night I had dinner at my girlfriend’s parents house, and then spent some time with her afterwards, and I watched the ending of Shaun of the Dead with her, since she had missed it.

Last night was really nice. Matt came home and made dinner for everyone, and we ate on our new kitchen table for the first time. Afterwards Britanny and I curled up for a bit of relaxation.

I never showed you guys pictures of the kitchen table that Matt and I built. Basically whenever we played board games or whatnot, we would have to set it all up, and then when we were done, or if we wanted to eat at the table, we’d have to clean it all up. So Matt and I built a table with a recess and a glass top, so now we can set up and play, and when we’re done, we just put the glass back on. In the pictures you can see that we have some of our 3D dungeon tiles set up for playing SW minis.

Next up… KOTOR 2.
