Relax guys

I’ll be back here in a day or two. There’s a lot of stuff going on right now that I need to give all of my attention to.

Sketches and journal posts will resume soon.

Joke’s on you

Just some randomness today. Was paying more attention to the television than what my pencil was doing on the paper. These scribbles actually filled in the very last page in my sketchbook. I start a whole new book with the next sketch.

Well, yesterday I sat down and hammered out the end of the WEMas storyline. Finished the scripting for the last four issues, and penciled, inked and colored all of the artwork for them. The storyline will end perfectly on the last day of Winter-een-mas. And with that bulk of work done, this weekend should be pretty light for me.

I think next up after RE4 I’ll tackle Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, or KOTOR2, both of which were put to the side during the holiday rush. I know that with KOTOR I’d probably be settling into at least 30-40 hours of gameplay there, but the first one was just sooooo delicious…

Both myself and guys over at Penny Arcade have been absolutely astonished by the sheer volume of people who fell for our little joke today. Just the idea that so many people thought that such a legal maneuver was even in the realm of possibility is baffling. I suppose I can understand where the fear would come from, what with the severe lack of boundaries for most lawsuits these days. But honestly… I had no idea so many would take it so seriously.

That said, I did receive hundreds of emails of support, and it was nice to see such an outpouring of concern for my comic and wellbeing, even if the situation itself was a farce. I would have thought more people would have caught on after my second post.

At any rate, it looks like tonight I may be going to this club called ‘Gotham’ here in New Haven. They’re doing some sort of party thing, and so I told my girlfriend I’d go with her. It snowed earlier today, and the roads are still a bit mushy, so we may not even go. Remains to be seen, I suppose. If I don’t return tomorrow, it is safe for you to assume that I was attacked by a goth, that all of the blood was drained from my body for ritualistic purposes, and the empty shell that is my body has been dumped in an alley somewhere. Or something like that…

Just kidding.

Change the weather still together when it ends”

There is no end!

I swear I thought I would beat Resident Evil 4 this weekend. I played, and played, and every single time I thought I was nearing what must be the end encounter, Ashley got kidnapped again, fell into a trap, I fell down a hole into some other, previously undiscovered part of a castle, etc etc. I’m starting to believe that this game has no end. Don’t get me wrong… the game is absolutely amazing, and I’m more than happy to find that it has got a good solid chunk of gameplay. But honestly, how much does poor Leon have to endure?

Went out for a bite to eat with my special someone (<3) and some of her friends last night. They’re all back to classes today, so I met them at Chile’s last night to hang out. I arrived before them, so I spent a good ten minutes doing drifts, power slides and donuts in the icy, snowy and nearly deserted parking lots. I would love to be able to practice on my timing and be able to do a powerslide into a parking space.

Work today as usual. Finished up an advertising banner for a client that is running a campaign on CAD. Nine times out of ten I hate doing shit like this. I follow their specs (which are always uncreative and lame) to produce a banner along the lines of “oh my god, this product is so great!” and I consistently feel like I’m selling my soul. I’ve never used these products. How do I know if they’re so great? They could be shit. But it’s a necessity of the business I run sometimes. I often refuse to do custom banners unless I personally support the product. Occasionally I don’t really have a choice though. *sigh* The things we do for money.

Going to go to the gym early tonight because she gets out of class at 7pm, and she’s probably coming over to hang out afterwards. I can’t think of a better way to end my day than with her.

Journal 2.0

Well, I’ve finished importing everything from my LiveJournal. All of the posts should be backdated in their proper place. My next step will be to find a decent image gallery system and get that running here. That way you’ll be able to see new sketches with my journal posts, but also have an easier time browsing through just the images themselves, without having to read back through all of the journal entries. It’s going to be an adjustment, for those of you who got used to my LiveJournal, but I will be setting up a syndicated LJ account so that you will still be able to get my posts and sketches on your LJ friends page.

We have been slammed with snow. Not the advertised 2ft, but a good 8-9 inches of heavy wet snow for sure. The first thing I did this morning was go out and start shoveling. But the plows have done their job, and the sun is out now, so I think getting around won’t be as hard as we had originally thought.

My special someone should be moving back to school today, and I’m really excited about having her close by again. Not that she’s ever been terribly far away, but the closer she is to me, the happier I am.

Winter-een-mas begins this week. I took the weekend off, but I seriously need to put up the picture gallery on the official site. It’s the only large project I really have left for WEMas. I totally failed to produce new WEMas wallpapers or greeting cards this year, and I think that at this point I’m not even going to bother. I’ll just have to try and get an earlier jump on it next year. There are a lot of things like that which I need to start doing in advance, such as this year remembering to draw one image a month for the 2006 CAD calendar I want to do next year.

I think I may be done with World of Warcraft for the time being. The idea of the game still intrigues me, and strikes me as enjoyable, but I think I may have lost real interest. I’ve got a lot of work to do, and other games to play, and someone who is very important to me that I enjoy giving my attention to. Who knows, maybe I’ll pick it up here and there, or get back into it in the future.

I love… desk

Heh, I didn’t even realize I was still dating these 2004. Going to take me at least a month to start remembering that it’s 2005.

I’m pretty happy with today’s sketch. I haven’t posted one for you guys in a while, so I thought I’d go the little extra distance today and make it a nice one.

I was in a very weird funk yesterday. I wasn’t motivated to do anything. Couldn’t work, couldn’t even play World of Warcraft. I have no idea why. The only thing that held my interest, and even then not for very long, was Resident Evil 4 (I’ll get into that in a moment). It was just one of those days where you don’t want to do anything. I was just totally out of it.

Today, however, I’ve woken up with so much motivation and inspiration it’s ridiculous. And I know exactly why. I’ve started seeing/dating someone recently, and I had this really weird day yesterday, but then at the end of the day, last night before bed, I got to talk to her for a while, and she totally snapped me out of it. Not on purpose, either. She’s not even aware that she did it. It’s stuff like this that makes me realize how special she is to me. She’s absolutely wonderful, and I hope that I can make her as happy as she makes me.

Let’s see… work stuff. The Lilah shirts are being printed, and should be up for sale in the store pretty soon. Most of the designs will now be offered in Baby Doll tees, which should please some of the ladies that have been emailing requests for them.

I’ve got a little pile of stuff that I need to do, and today I feel like I have the energy to just plow through it all. I don’t know how realistic that is, but it won’t hurt to try. Mostly comics stuff. My comic, the CoH comic, and a comic I promised to do for my friend Josh for his Anthology project.

The new front fenders for my car have finally shipped, and will arrive on Friday. One step closer to having all of the parts for the major overhaul in the spring. If anyone asks about my car I’m going to ingore you, because I’ve talked about it at length in the past.

Haven’t played WoW in 4 days now. I don’t feel like I’ve lost interest in the game at all. I still love it. I just haven’t been feeling like playing it right now. The first couple of days I didn’t play it because I was spending time with someone who is way more important than WoW, but then it was just business and generic apathy. I’m sure this weekend I’ll jump back into it.

Resident Evil 4 is really very cool. There’s a lot of great action, fun end bosses, and so many little nuances that I can’t even list them all. Like being able to shoot a zombie in the leg as he’s running toward you, and he’ll grab his thigh and stumble to the ground, where you can safely empty a clip into his head. Or the “instant-kill” moves that add realism and danger to the game, such as when a chainsaw wielding zombie gets too close. You don’t just suffer minor lacerations. It’s a fucking chainsaw. That sonuvabitch cuts right through your neck, removing your head from your body, no matter how much health you have left. It’s a thing of beauty. Disturbing beauty, but beauty nonetheless.

Ooo… neat *swipe*

I robbed this from my buddy Xero’s LJ. Thought it was nifty.

Make a list of 10 statements about yourself:
* 4 of the 10 statements must be lies.
* Post your list and have people guess which four are lies!

1. I have been in prison
2. My eyes are blue, but have been known to change to gray when I am sad or angry
3. I once had my eyebrow pierced
4. I have a tattoo
5. I once turned down a very lucrative buyout offer for the rights to my comic strip from a very well-known company
6. I am a black belt in Tae Kwon Do
7. I attended a catholic school
8. My middle name is William
9. I have never been in a fist fight/bar brawl
10. I’ve had my appendix removed

I’ll post which four are lies tomorrow or the next day.

Blaaaargh!

It’s amazing how something as simple as starting off your morning (well, MY morning… which is around noon for the rest of you) with someone very special can make the rest of your day that much brighter, despite the cold gray skies, and all of the snow. Thank you for coming over after class =)

On the agenda today is more of the same old. Continue working on the Winter-een-mas storyline, continue working on the Winter-een-mas website, organize other work, try not to worry think about work TOO far ahead, lest I get overwhelmed with all that needs to get done.

I recorded an interview for Fanboy Radio yesterday, which aired today. I’ll have to make it a point to download the show and hear how bad I sounded.

Oh… right. I also need to finish the design for the Lilah t-shirt today. My t-shirt guy is anxious to get all of the designs printed in baby-doll tees, so I need to get that to him today.

Right now, super top priority, however, is to find food. I am very hungry. I think I will have to venture out into the cold, and forage in the vicinity of the grocery store. Tim eats. Food Good. Beer Good. Beer Foamy!

See?
